OLYMPIA, Wash. – A mudslide has closed a several lanes of Martin Way in Olympia.

A stormwater line ruptured early Tuesday morning.  Because of the sandy soil and wet weather, the bank adjacent to the roadway and the road surface under the road failed, resulting in a mudslide. Crews and Public Works Engineers are working to assess and correct the failing pavement.

Crews have closed both northbound lanes on Martin Way at Mary Elder Road NE and traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction in the southbound lanes.  Traffic will be reduced to one lane either direction until further notice.

As a result, Intercity Transit bus stop for inbound routes 62A and 62B are closed on Martin Way at Mary Elder Road until further notice. Commuters are advised to use the bus stops on Martin Way at Lilly Road or Animal Services.
