SEATTLE – A memorial procession will wind from the University of Washington campus to KeyArena Friday, where a service will be held to honor Seattle Police Officer Timothy Brenton.

Brenton was shot and killed Halloween night when a gunman pulled up next to his patrol car and shot the officer. Brenton's rookie partner, Officer Britt Sweeney, survived the shooting.

The public memorial at KeyArena begins at 1 p.m. Doors will open at 11 a.m.

No other traffic will be allowed on the route between 9 a.m. and noon, and no other traffic will be allowed to cross the route. Drivers are advised to anticipate congestion near the route, especially as mourners line the course.

1st Avenue N and Mercer Street will be closed when the procession arrives at those locations. Roads around Seattle Center will also be closed to traffic to provide parking.
