The newly crowned Miss Universe indicated she doesn’t support recreational marijuana laws like the ones in Washington state and Colorado.

Olivia Culpo, who is also Miss USA, spoke to the Huffington Post Thursday about pot, one day after winning Miss Universe.

“I think that pot, marijuana, for medical purposes is understandable, but I don’t think it should be legalized for recreational purposes because it’s been proven to  prevent people from their full potential and I don’t think that’s a good thing for society,” said Culpo. “If we’re trying to move things forward, a drug like marijuana does the opposite. It will slow things down. But, for medical purposes I think it's great, but for every day? No.”

She did imply that she thinks it would help the economy.

Washington state allows people to possess up to one ounce of marijuana, but it's illegal to smoke it in public, grow it or sell it.

Culpo also said something needs to be done on gun control.

“Exactly what, we don’t know,” she said.
