Man organizes boycott of cities boycotting Arizona, including Seattle

Arizona's recent immigration law has led to cities and organizations, including the city of Seattle, calling for boycotts of the state.

Now, a reverse boycott is underway to support Arizona and its new law.

Arizonan Brett Scott is fighting back by creating a website called AZFightsBack.com.

It lists cities and organizations boycotting Arizona.

"It's my sincere hope that we return the favor of boycotting them back, if you will, as a way of saying we understand that you're attacking us so we'll respond in kind by withholding our dollars as well," he said.

Scott isn't the only one.

The Arizona Hotel and Lodging Association says it's seeing more interest in people wanting to vacation in their state and canceling trips to cities boycotting Arizona.

"There's a lot of people, they're calling it a buy-cott," says the Hotel and Lodging Association's Debbie Johnson. "and what we're hearing from a lot of people is those vacation plans that they were having and the destinations they've gone to before are not welcoming."

The Seattle City Council voted Monday for city departments to boycott Arizona businesses and call for the federal government to reform immigration. The boycott does not affect private companies in Seattle that do business in Arizona.

So much for that trip to the Space Needle!! F&*! Seattle, I will never spend another cent there. I wonder if the City Counsel ever thought about how many people would be affected by their decision. Bet they will in the end.............

Myself, my employer, fellow employees and friends are united in boycotting products and tourism in all cities who are boycotting Arizona. We look forward to spending our vacation and convention dollars in Arizona. In fact, my employer changed plans to hold our fall national sales meeting from Minneapolis to Phoenix as a direct result of their desire to hurt fellow Americans in the justifiable exercise of their Tenth Amendment rights. Hey California and Washington State....we won't be buying your wines, will adjust our produce selection accordingly and spend our tourism dollars in Arizona. If enough in the majority follow suit, we can add more unemployed illegals to their State's failing economies - until they wake up and stand up for America.

I work with legal immigrants every day. I see the work they go through to adhere to the laws, getting visa's, paying taxes, etc. In many cases the process they go through takes years. My wife and her mother legally immigrated to the US. If the issue was about legal immigrants, I would absolutley be out there protesting, as we are all immigrants or decents of immigrants. But this is about illegal aliens, who's first act in this country was to commit a crime. They knew it was illegal and yet they did it anyway. Its not about Mexicans any more than it is about Canadians or any other nationality. When we travel to another country, we are supposed to carry our passport and our visa to show our status and this is no different. If you are not a citizen, then you should have no issues showing your status. Its not about profiling. By law you are required to provide ID citizen or not when an Officer asks. If you are illegal, appropriate action and deportation should take place!

I am glad to see a private citizen doing what he can to organize a group against the boycott. Again, this is a law that the federal government should be pursuing or at least providing support for the states. It is very clear that Obama does not want to see this battle on his watch and can not deal with it honestly. He made dam sure his aunt was allowed to stay and I hope that some one will investigate this to the fullest. Now, these cities that are boycotting Arizona are very hypocritical in that they openly allow illegals to dwell in their cities and turn their heads when they know of illegals. Here in Seattle, you see them on TV at news time every time there is a protest. Another example of local governments not wanting to deal with it because of the lack of federal backing and or support. My wife and I plan not to spend any money in Seattle unless we have to, ie, city light. Outside of that, forget it. They should have checked with the populace first.

Seattles shortsighted solution is a boycott of AZ that is sure to destroy the lives of thousands of workers. In AZ a large number of employees will be Hispanic. What of the hotel, convention and food service workers(mostly Hispanic) who will be laid off? Does the city Council (CC) consider the Hispanics who will be laid off in Arizona to be nothing more than collateral damage, an unfortunate byproduct of the CC's pandering to the Latino population? What the CC is demonstrating here is not righteous indignation, it's grandstanding. I see no reason that decent, honest and hard-working Mexican-American citizens in Arizona should bear the brunt of this boycott. Guatemalans crossing into Mexico without documents are robbed, beaten, tortured, raped and murdered while Mexican authorities look the other way. Where is the CC’s outrage with Mexico's treatment of undocumented Guatemalan immigrants in MEX? This boycott of AZ makes the Seattle CC appear more like hypocrites than Crusaders.

Ok so IM a citizen and i am MEXICAN and i understand everything everyone is saying , one thing i dont understand is why only the mexicans are being attacked there are so many other illegals from other parts of the world and its ok for them to be here illegaly its ok for them to cut in front of the line . i do think is a racial issue , thats fine send them home , but remember the ones that are bombing this country are not mexicans i dont recall them blowing up the planes on 9/11 or trying to blow up new york every other day , but you we welcome them with open arms . VERY NICE . ITS just that MEXICANS get blamed for evertyhing and all we ever do is work and help to better the economy , i agree that some women come here and just start popping out kids and that some men come here and cause problems but every race has its criminals and not only MEXICANS . So i hope all of you see that and stop blaming the MEXICANS FOR EVERYTHING.

I am thrilled to have a list of places and organizations to boycott. Tired of the liberals being the only ones to use this method. Our family has already cancelled a vacation to Martha's Vineyard and we are going to Arizona instead. Shame on U.S. citizens to try to punish a state for enacting a law that helps it's citizens and targets those that are ILLEGAL. The result will be that instead of going to Arizona, illegals will come to California and burden an already miserable economy. Can this be the real reason why so many California cities are boycotting?

Washington is about the only state that gives drivers licences.. all the illegals come here for them.... in Cal, illegals dont get driver licences, so when they get stopped by the cops, their cars are impounded.... The illegals have learned that if they come up here and get a WA license, they wont get the rides impounded..... oh and while in WA, they also sign up for welfare.. that's our tax dollars at work...

Good point, Mango.....immigrants who have prepared and worked hard to become citizens are truly assets to our country. Especially those who bother to learn the language and laws of the land and work and give back into our economy....welcome to you all. Most legal immigrants bring much value from their cultures to ours.....but then there are some who expect constant accommodation and bully their way through our system. On my mind lately are several auto hit and runs by legal aliens/visitors who state that they did not know that the law required them to stay at an accident! They why do they have drivers licenses? How did they get them if they do not understand the language or laws? We do need to keep in mind that it is illegals who are the issue. It is a huge problem, one which Seattle is only vaguely aware of, apparently. And I'm not too sure the city council actually READ the Arizona statute on illegal immigration or there would be a lot less misinformation spewed about.

Jerrysorensen I got new for ya' there has not been free press in America for over 40 years, it's controlled and slanted to promulgate the progressive ideology, by deceit and half truths. The only thing the news is good for anymore is weather and traffic reporting. After the FCC begins to institute Chinese style laws over the internet, then these blogs will be as useless.

The liberals who are "boycotting" the state of Arizona have absolutely NO idea of what the real world is all about as usual. These are the people that expect a police officer to be miliseconds away at all times to protect them from the big bad world and want to sue somebody, anybody, when something bad happens to them. Thats the answer, litigation! I've lived in the state of Washington my entire life (57 years) and enough is enough! I'm leaving and moving to Arizona. Between the whiny liberals looking for a lawsuit, and their next "cause" and the spineless politicians who continue to raise taxes rather than fix the system, the Evergreen state has lost it's luster and on closer inspection, all that green is nothing more that a layer of mold.

There's probably not much the City of L.A. can do to boycott Arizona other then to quit buying the electrical power generated there that they're so desperate to have, so they're just full of it. Nevertheless, the press told us Obama would be the Great Unifier if elected, but they lied and we're in the downward spiral of civil unrest where cities and states are starting cold wars between each other.

Most people that are against this bill aren't pro illegal immigrant. That is just a stupid assumption. What this law does is that it allows for US citizens to be harassed and stopped by the police just because they are Hispanic. Yes there are illegal immigrants and they should be sent back to their country of origin when caught, but to harass someone just because of the color of their skin is wrong. If there weren't jobs for illegal immigrants to go to when they come here then maybe less would come. Businesses should be severely punished for blatantly hiring illegal immigrants. Also the Federal Government should stop sending billions to Mexico in Aid until Mexico starts trying to control their side of the border as well.

I wonder where all the liberal pinheads were when I was handing over thousands of dollar to immigrate to the US. Why didn't all you dummies come over to the old country while I waited 5 years for my legal documents and tell me all I had to do is sneak in? You could had save me a a lot of money and speed up the process. To all you dummies who feel sorry for the criminals who break the law and come here illegal, I will support your stupid movement as soon as you give every immigrant who spent their life savings to come here legally all the money we spent to do the right thing and have the right to live in this country. I assure you that American born citizen aren't the only people against illegals, most of us who carry a green card ( with pride) are not afraid to show it. Stop calling these criminlas immigrants, they are not immigrants they are illegals, I'm an immigrant and you are offending everyone of us who actually immigrate here.

2) cont. where are the "environmentalists" when it comes to the 100 million pounds of litter estimated up and down the U.S. along the border? And that doesn't come NEAR what they do once inside the country. I asked an illegal co-worker once, yes I've worked with illegals you idiots and even THEY see the problem although it's more about kidnappings by coyotes, money, murder, and LACK OF JOBS for them. They say they don't even think about littering because that's just how it's done in there country, SO shove that up your RACIST STATEMENT RADAR, you liberal idiots thinking/claiming that statements is racist! Again, GO TO THE BORDER AND SEE FOR YOURSELF!! 3) OVERREACTION!! IN YOUR HURRY TO THROW A SISTER STATE IN THE DITCH, YOU, ALONG WITH ALL WA AND CA STATE LEGISLATORS, THE MAJOR MEDIA, PRESIDENT OBAMA, AND THE U.S.ATTORNEY FAILED TO ACTUALLY READ ALL 10 PGS OF THE LAW!! Seems like most people are finding that the typical liberal leadership of this state, city, county, etc. are once again showing their true colors! Listen to the minority and say what they want to hear. Forget the majority! I think "the times they are a changing..." The recent primaries and elections are showing that the silent majority is getting tired of the liberals with agendas running the country. What Arizona has done is simply taken steps to protect their citizens, because they realize the traditional leadership in the other Washington doesn't care.

I will be going to Arizona for the duration. I fully support them and the immigration laws that have been put on the books. This law that is spoken of, is no more than what the government alreas on the books and Obama and his administration wants to insult our nation and turn his back on the southwet. most of you that oppose AZ are hypocrites and I'll explain....most of you live in a subdivision or know some1 who does ( a friend)...the covenant that subdivision has that keeps some1 from storing 80 cars in their yard, etc. So you or your friend are going to move this summer from your 350k home but a new neighbor moves in and paints their house pink, against the covenant. This in turn will most definately bring your house value down...do you a) say its his house he can do what he wants even it costs you a lot of coin or b) ask for the covenant to be envoked....if you say a....yeah right...if you say b then what is the difference...you want the law (so to speak) upheld just like AZ is imposing its right to the letter of the law....they aren't breaking a law just enforcing the law.

What is wrong with the people commenting here? These comments are driven by hate and prejudice. America is known as the melting pot and here in the NW we are very diverse. We should know better! We should not support AZ in making it legal to racial profile a certain race with the reason based "looking suspicious"! I agree that the immigrant to US citizen process is broken and the issue needs to be resolved ASAP. We need to support the rights of our fellow US citizens in AZ that give them the freedom to live their daily life without being harassed by local law enforcement. And without the need to carry their birth certificate and social security card on their body at all times (papers to prove citizenship) to prove they are a citizen! By the way, carrying your birth certificate and social security card is a big no no - people can steal your identity that way!

Most illegal’s work for cash and do not pay taxes. AND they usually can’t afford to go to these very expensive ball games. Or can they, since they don’t pay taxes, get food stamps and housing, after all they do have anchor babies to qualify them for all the assistance the State of Arizona doles out to them. I think Los Angles and Settle should take them, we have plenty of them.

Add Tacoma to the list of cities to boycott. Even though 80% Tacomans oppose this boycott, their so-called *representatives* are ignoring the will of their constituents, the people of Tacoma. I shouldn't be surprised since we live in a state where the will of the people is ignored (like where a governor gets to be governor by winning only one out of three vote counts).

Just because ethnocentric groups get all the airwaves doesn't mean that a majority of Americans support a secure border with zero tolerance for ILLEGAL immigration. I downloaded the entire law. It was 18 pages long. 10 pages were concerned with the illigal immigration documentation issue and 8 were addressing the problem of people and businesses that hire illigal immigrants. If you are stopped for speeding you will be asked for a AZ drivers license and registration. If you can not provide one you will be asked for any federal or State document that has your photo on it. If you can not provide these either you may then be asked to provide some credible documnetation indicating who you are and whether or not you are here legally. Not a classic example of racial profiling. Of course if you present a Mexico drivers license when stopped for a traffic infraction, don't the shocked to find the officer thinks you might be an illigal.
