Logging truck hits 14-year-old on US 101

SHELTON, Wash. – Highway 101 was closed Tuesday afternoon after a logging truck hit a 14-year-old boy riding a scooter or bicycle.

It happened just north of Shelton. Photos taken at the scene show the wheels of the bike or scooter still under the truck as state troopers were investigating.

The boy was conscious and alert as he was taken to Mason General Hospital, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The boy’s mother said he broke his ankle.

There were no other details immediately available about what led to the accident or whether the truck driver would be cited.
