A live grenade was found in the back yard of a Bonney Lake home on Sunday
Neighbor Jay Persilver made the discovery while helping the woman who lives at the home with plumbing work.
He walked around back to check the water heater, and that's when he saw the grenade sitting in the grass. At first, he thought it was a toy, then realized it was the real thing.
:"It weighed a couple pounds, it wasn't light, the spoon was gone, there was no pin, I didn't know if it was rusted off or … so I just left it up to the cops,” said Persilver.
The bomb squad took care of the grenade. No one was hurt.
The homeowner lives alone and has no clue where the grenade came from. Neighbors suspect her boyfriend or son may have left it there.
