SEATTLE -- The King County Board of Health passed a controversial proposal Thursday to ban smoking electronic cigarettes in public places.
The cigarettes deliver a vaporized charge of nicotine without burning tobacco. But health officials say, in some cases, the product can still give off second-hand smoke.
Stores are also banned from selling the cigarettes to minors.
Health officials in Pierce County say they are considering a similar ban.
