KENT, Wash. -- The Kent Police Department says it's unusually concerned about a man who just moved into the city.
Bennett Reedy, 51, is a Level 3 Sex Offender, convicted of rape and unlawful imprisonment in Seattle in the mid 1990’s. He’s been out of custody since and committed more crimes, including assault.
Reedy recently moved into a clean and sober house near downtown Kent. Police say they’re worried since Reedy’s home includes nine other sex offenders and is near a senior apartment complex. Level 3 sex offenders are considered most likely to reoffend.
Kent city leaders held a community notification meeting at city hall Thursday to let residents know about their new neighbor. A few dozen people attended and said they were pleased to know police were paying such close attention.
Reedy declined comment on the issue when contacted Thursday night.
A records check shows 47 sex offenders live within a a half mile radius of the Kent City Hall. The city of Kent said there are 26 Level 3 sex offenders living within their city limits.
