A Federal Way man accused of firing the gun that killed a Seattle father just before a Memorial Day vacation pleaded not guilty Monday.
Andrew Jermain Patterson, 20, is charged with second-degree murder for the May 24 shooting that killed Justin Ferrari in Seattle’s Central District.
Patterson remains in the King County Jail in lieu of $2 million bail.
Ferrari, 42, was shot in the head while driving with his parents and two children. Ferrari died in his father's arms at the scene. The group was preparing to leave town for the weekend.
Police say Ferrari was not the intended target. Police say, according to witnesses, Patterson and three other men were arguing on opposite sides of the street. Patterson allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired three shots.
If convicted, Patterson faces 15 to 23 years in prison.
