Following a KING 5 report on Wednesday about a mural-painting project at Gilda's Club, which is dedicated to helping families touched by cancer, Diamond Parking Services agreed to open its parking lot for free to those painting the mural.

The Capitol Hill building that houses Gilda's Club is covered with graffiti. Several artists have volunteered to paint a mural to deter vandalism.

Diamond Parking, which owns the lot adjacent to Gilda's, will now pitch in for the project. Initially Diamond was going to charge Gilda's Club more than $3,000 to use the parking lot for the six-day painting project.

The mural work is planned to begin next month.

Gilda's Club says they will return donations that came from the public now that Diamond is no longer charging them for using the lot.
