EVERETT, Wash. -- The Snohomish County medical examiner has ruled that the September death of an Everett, Wash., man in the county jail was a homicide.
The medical examiner's office said Thursday that 59-year-old Bill Williams died of heart problems after a struggle with jail staff.
The Daily Herald reports that police say Williams had been shocked twice with a stun gun just minutes before he died Sept. 14.
The death has been under review by the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team, a group of homicide detectives who handle officer-involved deaths.
The homicide finding simply means that a person died as a result of another's actions.
Prosecutors are expected to decide whether the actions constitute a crime or were legally justified.
