All furloughed civilian employees with the Department of Defense at Joint Base Lewis-McChord are expected to report back to work Monday, an official said.
"I think it is important to our economy. I think it is important to the local community which supports the military and our community supports the military," said JBLM commissary employee Willis Gindt
Gindt said he was informed Sunday to report back to work. Gindt said he wasn’t furloughed because he works for a private contractor, but when the commissary closed he was also sent home.
"It was a week ago tomorrow they closed it down until further notice," Gindt said.
Gindt depends on his paycheck from the commissary.
Over the weekend, the Pentagon recalled nearly all 350,000 furloughed civilian workers.
