WESTPORT, Wash. Waves called 'giant' by the National Weather Service flooded the main street in Westport, and have some homeowners worried they may lose their property.

By the time high tide hit Westport at 2 p.m. Friday, waves estimated at 25 feet high were crashing on the jetty protecting the town's marina. Some of the storm surge, submerged streets in Westport.

Most of the water receded with the tides by 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service issued a "high surf warning" for the Washington coast through 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The big waves could cause big problems for Juanita Catron.

Catron, who lives on Washaway Beach, did not expect her waterfront guest bedroom to survive the weekend.

"It's sad, but it's Mother Nature," said Catron, "It's expected to happen."

Catron and her neighbors are used to erosion. When she bought her now-waterfront property 13 years ago, the beach was three blocks away. On average, 100 feet of land around Washaway Beach erodes every year.

"All you can do is cry," said Catron.

I seriously hope there is no government relief for those who choose to live in these places. Makes one wonder why they are even allowed to build there to begin with?
