EVERETT, Wash. - By noon at the Everett Foodbank, 100 families had already come through the doors.

To help out, the Everett Silvertips hockey team is holding an emergency food drive at this weekend's game with the Seattle Thunderbirds.

People going to the game are asked to bring non-perishable food items or cash.

"I've never seen a need like this," said foodbank director Christin Froderberg. "I think it's just incredible."

With the faltering economy, Froderberg says demand in the last year has gone up by 14 percent. Fifty percent of the clientele are children.

As the holidays approach, the shelves of the Everett Foodbank, and many others in the region, are growing bare.

The Everett Foodbank likes to have about a month supply of food on the shelves. Currently, they have just two days.

K'Leigh McCoy came to the foodbank with her younger brother and sister.

"I think it would be a lot harder to survive if we didn't have this help every month," said McCoy.

Hey you guys, lets remember Brendon Foster's dream of feeding the hungry. He died of leukemia last year, and his wish was that all of the hungry be fed. We all stepped up to the plate last year, and I know that we can do it again. Lets do it!!
