Weather conditions were prime Thursday for major growth in the Table Mountain and Wenatchee Complex fires, but the fires didn't spread as much as expected. Officials coordinating the fight said the wind pushed the fire into an area where tree cover was not as dense, lowering the fire's intensity.

Air tankers were expected make one more pass before sundown Thursday. After sunset, ground teams will focus on protecting the 600 homes threatened by the fires.
