SEATTLE - A fire broke out inside the building that used to house one of Seattle's most notorious strip clubs.

Fire crews rushed to the former site of Rick's on Lake City Way around 7:00 p.m. for reports for heavy smoke billowing from the building.  Firefighters were able to put out the fire shortly after.

A Seattle Department spokesperson said the fire was electrical and started in the building's ceiling.  Workers had been working on the electricity system earlier in the day.  The fire caused $650,000 to the building's structure and contents.

Just weeks ago, the building was sold at auction for $2.35 million to an unknown bidder.

Having been seized by the federal government as part of an organized crime and prostitution investigation, Rick's has been out of operation for several months.

Money to be made, seferos? Well not if the electricians--or maybe next time it's the roofers--have another 'oopsie' the next time around. When you don't wanna pay that monthly "tribute" for 'security', those mob contractors magically and suddenly start brain cramping on the job site. Guess opening in month might be out of the question now, eh Bruno?

matthias- Actually the 1st rule of posting anything is to not take any post too seriously and certainly don't worry about their spelling. The second rule of posting is to never violate your own 1st rule.

Maybe now we can revisit the "unvisited" (unreported) act by the former owners: filling in the ravine/creek BEHIND the club and doing so without a permit or DOE approval. The entire back (east) side parking lot is illegal fill. This was long before Strippergate.

seferos, you have broken rule number one of the unwritten rules of king5.com posting. Never insult someone's intelligence while displaying the flaws in your own. "got a deal for less than half. And will rebuild and could out of pocket. Theres to much money to be made." Look closely at what you posted here. You started a sentence with And first of all but then the sentence says "And will rebuild and could out of pocket". My six year old son just laughed at how awful that sentence is. "Theres to much money". Learn the difference between two, to and TOO. Most importantly though, never break King5.com unwritten rule number one.

Do you morons realize it was due to open in 1 week and the new owners were willing to pay $5,000,000 and they got a deal for less than half. And will rebuild and could out of pocket. Theres to much money to be made.

How poetically just. Burn that den of iniquity. I can only hope that the arsonist gets caught and ALL who planned it go to jail....for a long time. Hey new owner...they are looking at you. If you did this you Will get caught! BTW, they don't have stripper poles in prison, just ugly big bubba and he is lonely :)

Thank you Seattle Fire Dept. for sending 12 fire engines. Seriously. That stupid strip club (may it rest in pieces) is smack in between 2 gas stations. Also across the street from a block and a half long car dealer's lot of new cars. Thank you!

Correction: Ricks has NOT been out of operation for "years", just months since getting shut down for prostitution. This building was just sold at auction and the new owner's are opening a new prostitution ring/strip club called "Dreamgirls." Looks like they realized that the business was not worth the 2.35 million and they set a fire. At least there is some delay to business opening now. Always keeping it classy Lake City.
