FERNDALE, Wash. -- A seven-year-old boy has been airlifted to Harborview Medical Center after being struck by a bus Thursday.

The boy was a passenger on the bus and got off at Lummi Shore Drive just outside Ferndale.

The State Patrol says the boy crossed the street in front of the bus as the driver pulled away. The vehicle then rolled forward and over the boy.

There is no word yet on the extent of the boy's injuries.

The accident is under investigation.
