FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Firefighters responded to an explosion in a house in the 30400 block of 23rd Ave. SW in Federal Way Friday afternoon.
Investigators believe a natural gas leak in the home may have caused the explosion.
Four adults in the home were injured. The person with the most serious of injuries was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, another occupant was transported to Harborview by ambulance. Two persons were treated on scene and released.
Emergency crews found extensive damage from the explosion and from the initial fire ball, and firefighters quickly extinguished a fire burning in a wall and in the attic.
The damage is estimated at about $80,000.
