Good Samaritans who want to support people who need help paying for utilities can often work through local charities, and some utilities make it easy for customers to add donations on top of a monthly statement.

For example, Puget Sound Energy encourages donations to the Salvation Army Warm Home Fund. PSE allows customers to donate by checking a box on the montly statement (either online or on paper).

Seattle City Light asks customers to donate to Project SHARE, either by contributing online or by completing the form included in each month's billing statement.
