Haiyan was the second deadliest Philippines typhoon on record, killing more than 4,000 people. About 11 million have been affected; about four million of those victims are now homeless. Fortunately, the airport in the heavily damaged city of Tacloban is open and able to handle scores of flights, meaning food, water and medicine can pour in the area.
The volunteer Empact Northwest Disaster Team flew to the Philippines and worked with the Filipino military for a week to help typhoon victims. KING 5's Lori Matsukawa was at Sea-Tac Airport when some team members of Empact Team One returned home Wednesday night with many stories to share.
