SEATTLE -- Washington State troopers say a drunk driver is to blame for a fatal crash along I-5 in Seattle.

The accident happened just after 1 a.m. Monday in the northbound collector distributer lane of I-5 between Airport Way and James Street.

Investigators say a 25-year-old passenger died when the 23-year-old driver from Yelm hit a state DOT truck. A DOT worker in the truck was not injured.

Officials say the driver will be charged with vehicular homicide.

aye, red..I should have :) .. my sarcasm was from the fact that EVERY time some dirtbag drunk kills someone on the road.. people come out of the woodwork to defend their actions with sayings like 'he was a good person..shame on you for insulting him'.. or 'we ALL make mistakes.. he was just a kid' yadda, yadda.. I have NO mercy for people that get behind the wheel after drinking.. as they usually kill OTHER innocent people. I see it every day in my line of work and it makes me insane with rage that this State coddles drunk drivers.

Um, clear2copy for whatever reason I reread your comment once more, and it seems I missed the sarcasm :/ Sorry, in fact I do agree lol. You should have used semi colons or just one period or something! Totally caused me to misread your statement.

Cleary2copy I don't agree with you at all. A person who willingly decides to get drunk, and then steps into a vehicle and kills someone SHOULD be charged with manslaughter, and IS a selfish scum bag. No one put a gun to his back and forced him to abuse alcohol. Getting drunk should be against the law, nothing good ever comes of it! Everyone knows that alcohol impairs your judgment, perception of your surroundings, your vision, etc. So why in the heck do people find it fun to not be fully in control of themselves and their actions?? It's plain stupidity...and let's also say that its completely SELFISH and anyone who abuses alcohol and winds up killing someone as a result is a SCUMBAG.

I'm sure the DUI driver was a wonderful person..who just made a mistake.. we all make mistakes, right?....NOT.. the driver is a selfish scumbag. Sadly, he'll get off extremely easy for this.

If his friend had a say, he probably wouldn't have wanted him charged with vehicular manslaughter.. I mean when he got in the passenger seat with a drunk driver, he knew the risk he was putting himself into..

It's a sad day but, what day isn't in our world of hurt.Prison is for no man nor women, we all deserve death for the things we do and have done but, most people would rather die then go to prison. Prisons shouldn't exist, there should be another way that works cause prison doesn/t.

This is maybe the biggest plague on our streets today. Not Gun Violence, Not smoking pot, Not tax evasion, Not Jaywalking (i'm looking at you SPD...) but Drunk Drivers. When in the h3ll are we going to get serious about this problem and make real penalties for these dirtbags! These people are putting us all in danger...more than Osama, more than right wing crazy militias in Michigan, more than any other real tangible problem in society today. (assuming there is no one killed or injured when caught) 1st offense) Suspension of license for a year and 30 days in jail 2nd offense) Suspended license forever and 5 years in jail. 3rd offense) 10 years in jail If someone is killed: 1st degree murder charges. They knew what they were doing when they started drinking. Under the jail with them. HK
