BELLEVUE, Wash. -- A  truck driver was killed early Wednesday when his tanker overturned on Interstate 405 at Bellevue.

Officials said the truck overturned shortly after 3 a.m. on the ramp from eastbound Interstate 90 to southbound I-405. Officials said it appeared the driver made a hard right turn, lost control, went up onto the bank and rolled down onto the passenger compartment. The driver, a 56-year-old man from Port Orchard, was killed instantly.

WSDOT investigators were seeking witnesses may have seen what happened.

Liquid leaking from the tanker was an initial concern, but state troopers later determined the liquid was not dangerous. Crews spent the morning uprighting the overturned tanker.

The crash and accident investigation blocked a couple lanes of southbound I-405 and one lanes of the I-90 onramp to I-405. The lanes have since re-opened.

Until the common driver gets behind the wheel of a big truck, you have NO right to make a single comment.. 90% of car drivers have no clue what we go through putting up with people cutting us off, pulling out in front of us then having the gall to flip us off?? Trucks can and WILL kill someone.. There are truck drivers out there that are professional and do observe the rules of the road. The ones that speed and tailgate are the "Cowboys" out there that need to be weeded out..

I knew this man, he was family. He was the kindest most sweet man you could ever hope to meet. He worked hard every day of his life to provide for his sons, working odd shifts and long hours. He treated everyone like they were family and opened his home and his heart to them. He never made judgements about people what ever the situation and always had a smile. He has left behind two grown sons and two granddaughters, one 3 and one not yet even a month. These two girls will never get to know there grandfather, never know what a good man he was and never benefit from his example. He was not " a driver " or any other label you may want to place on him. It appears, to me, he died as he lived, giving every ounce of himself to every thing he did. The only other thing I have to say is I am great full no one else was hurt in this tragedy, he would have never forgiven himself if he had been responsible for another persons suffering.

He was a good man. A shame that he had to lose his life. For the person who says, "that's what he gets" Explain that to his sons who are greiving tonight, or to his 2 young granddaughters who will never know how amazing a person their grandpa was. Please use some common sense when commenting on the death of another person. Your words are hurtful. And just so you know, they're leaning more towards he fell asleep at the wheel, speed wasn't the issue.

*shudder* I hate driving next to big trucks on the highways. I am very sorry for this gentleman and his family for their loss. I was on 18 this morning headed toward Auburn, driving in the right lane, doing the speed limit when two big trucks flew past me in the left lane and then tailgated a couple of cars to get them to move over...yikes! I'm pretty sure they are supposed to travel in the right lane and observe the rules of the road...

Very sad. I'm glad no one else was hurt. Those big trucks can really cause serious damage when they mix it up with cars. Thoughts are with the family.
