KIRKLAND, Wash. – Paul Wu was pulling his car out of the driveway and saw it.

“I found a dog in my driveway which is unusual.”

He looked at the small dog.

“He would not go away, and I stop he comes up to me,” he said.

Wu found a bag hanging around the dog’s neck, carrying money, and a note.

“Please take care of Mr. B. He is a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. Six years old. My parents got divorced and Mr. B was supposed to go to the pound. I think he has a better chance with you.  This is my birthday money for any of his care. He is used to kids, not other dogs.  He’s a good boy.  I know God will take care of Mr. B – Everyone loves him…especially me. Thank you.”

Wu took the Cavalier into work, and his colleague immediately was compelled to help.

“I’d hate to be a kid making that choice,” said Robert Kuchcinski, who has three children of his own. “It didn’t seem right that it would go to the pound.”

He took the dog home Thursday afternoon, and to a veterinarian. Mr. B had some dry skin, and plugged ears, but overall had a clean bill of health.

Kuchcinski and Wu still wonder what the rest of the story may be.

“All I want to do is let this person know, that we found him a good home.  That’s the whole message,” said Wu.

“Hopefully they’re happy with the dog having a good home,” says Kuchcinski, “And things are find with them too.”

@tabithastevens...I feel very sorry for you. We just brought home a shelter dog. Luckily, he'd been at a no kill shelter. He'd been there for over a month and is 7.5 years old. His chances of being adopted were very minimal. My children when they were smaller would have been able to write a note like that telling someone that our older dog does not like people to blow in her face and they would have included that in the note. Does it really matter if it was a kid or an adult? No, it doesn't. The shelters are full of animals that people can no longer take care of. I'm pretty sure that the family who were "suckered" into taking the dog and someone didn't "want to go to a shelter" are very happy. It's a happy ending for everyone but especially for Mr. B who has a wonderful "second chance" forever home.

Who ever is responsible for trying to do better for this little guy, in my book, is worthy of kudos. Since the details of this situation are unknown, we cannot speculate on what would have been a better choice. As a young person, my family lived in subsidized housing. When I was thirteen, the rules changed at the housing and we could no longer keep pets. My single-parent mother had no choice but to get rid of the dog. I am now a senior, but I still cry when I remember my beloved dog was sent to the pound where he was killed and disposed of like a piece of garbage. Today, I sacrifice for my animals, and I help those I can: I've taken in some, found homes for others, I've helped others with their animals, in their time of need. Thank you KING5.com for featuring this story. May it inspire others to make compassionate decisions for their animals, no matter the circumstances.

Well it is positive that the boy made sure he did the best in his power to do for his kid. Why do I doubt the parents can say the same? Seriously, neither of the parents could keep his dog? Are they too wrapped up in how they feel to find a way to cause a little less distress and havoc for him? I have no idea about the divorce, it may truly have been unavoidable, but unfortunately I doubt that too. That kid has a good head on his shoulders and heart as well - hope he keeps these lessons. :)

I do think it was a child who was heartbroken and worried about the fate of his/her beloved pet. Do you have any idea how hard it must have been for the child to not only be going through his/her parents splitting up, but also losing Mr. B? I definitely would have been able and worried enough to write such a note as a child. I love stories of compassion like this one. It gives me hope. I am so happy for the Kuchcinskis, they found a new, eternally grateful family member to love, and of course, for Mr.B. He is also missing his former family. My heart breaks for the kid. Shame on the parents, acquiring a pet should be a life-long commitment, not for as long as it is convenient. They are obviously hurting their child doing this. Thank heaven for people like Paul Wu, the concerned child, and the generous new owners.

@tabithastevens No where in the news story does it say how old the child who wrote this letter is. They could be a teenager, 12 year old or younger. I agree, a 7 year old probably would not write like this, but as a child gets older, generally hand writing gets better. Sorry your heart is so heardened that you can' t read something positive in the news for a change w/o trying to turn it into a negative. I'm glad the dog was able to be given to a loving and caring family w/ other children that will be able to love it as the owner did.

@tabithastevens...I was wondering what your education and career consisted of, if you are so trained to recognize from a news clip, not only the handwriting of an adult, but a female adult. I also feel very bad for the children in your life if you think that none of them are intelligent enough to write that note. My nine year old niece would certainly inform people that her dog is good with kids but not other dogs. Not only does she know this but has heard her parents mention it!! I also feel bad that the first thing you think of is cynical and non-believing. Even if this was an adult that could no longer care for the dog, maybe they thought the dog would be better accepted if the story came from a child. Just be happy that someone was able to adopt the dog and it won't have to be "put down".

This story has captured my heart, and everyone's heart that I send it to. I'm proud that there are stand up people in the world who can see this story for what it really means, and hopeful that if they locate the author of the note, perhaps they can let him/her come over and play with the dog! tabithastevens, you're like the kid at school no one likes because she's a know-it-all who likes to spoil everyone's good time. Who cares who wrote the note?? It's petty and shallow of you to bring it up in the first place. "Well you KNOW, it wasn't actually an adult who wrote it Nyah nyah nyah..." That's what people read in your post. Way to go, you've managed to make complete strangers think you're a miserable person. I'm pretty sure I don't need your help in deciding what I should and should not care about.

Does it really matter if it is a child or an adult who wrote the letter? Many people are having to give up their animals and it's a hard choice and they are afraid that if they take them to the shelter they will die. I don't blame anyone for wanting their beloved pet to have a chance. But please know people, there are rescues out there who will help you to find a home for your animals or help you with food if that's the issue, don't dump them on the street where they can be hurt. This ended well but you may not be so lucky.

my little girl writes like that. She has better handwriting than me, and being an honors student, she can also spell and organize her thoughts, unlike some adults. I agree with username. Does it really matter? It's a feel-good moment. There aren't enough of them out there.

You've all been snookered. No way a child wrote that note. It is an adult's handwriting, and contains information only an adult would include, like the fact that the dog is okay with kids, but not other dogs. A child giving up her dog would not include that information. So the story behind the story is bogus. It's apparent that some adult wanted to get rid of their dog and didn't want to take it to the shelter. So she (based on the handwriting on the note) made up a sob story and suckered some other family into keeping her dog. I suppose the end justifies the means, and I'm glad the dog has found a good home, but those of you crying your eyes out for some poor little girl need to realize you've been fooled.

A Dubious circumstance at best here. Me thinks me smells a rat. Some adult did a clever job of manipulating a softheart and dumped their unwanted dog.

Wow! Just the thought of this poor dog being left to fend for himself is heartbreaking! "Mom and Dad" should have made sure Mr. B had a safe place to go BEFORE moving on to seperate lives. Shame on both of them! To the Kuchcinski Family: You have hearts of gold to take on such an important role in Mr. B's life. Bless you and have lots of fun with Mr. B!!!

This story made me cry. I cannot imagine making that decision as an adult much less a child. Thank you to Mr. Wu and Kuchcinski for the compassion you have. There needs to be more people in the world like you. I hope Mr. B has a long and wonderful life and his previous owners have seen this story and can find peace that he found a loving home.
