SEATTLE - Testimony continued Wednesday morning in the trial of two men accused of shooting a dog.

Terrance Hedin and his son Travis are suspected of shooting their 4-year-old Rottweiler named Maynard and abandoning him to die off a Forest Service road near North Bend.

They face charges of first-degree animal cruelty.

Four members of Pasado's Safe Haven held a silent protest outside the courtroom.

"We posted a $10,000 reward. We did receive many tips, which we turned over to King County and hopefully lead to bringing some justice for this dog," said Amber Chenoweth.

Intentionally shooting a dog and leaving it to suffer is a Class C felony.

It carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a 10,000 fine.

These guys should get community service. No jail time, no fine, no probation. They should also have to take shooting classes at a local shooting range to improve their shooting skills. They should not be allowed to graduate from the shooting class until they can "take a dog out" with one or two shots at the most. Never let a dog suffer. Kill him instantly and bury his body at an undisclosed location in rural King County. I also agree with inforelife - Poison meatballs are very effective.

I don't have a problem shooting a dog, if it is old and sick or if it has turned mean, or is killing livestock. If someone does this they should do it right and not let it suffer.
