One person died Saturday after a bicyclist collided with a vehicle north of Woodinville.

The accident happened in the 6500 block of 240th St SE.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said the bicyclist, believed to be a Kent man in his 60s, was hit by an oncoming vehicle while attempting to pass other cyclists ahead of him.  He died at the scene.

"This is exactly what I have been fearing and worried about," said Carol Wandless, who lives near the accident scene. "I'm a cyclist myself and I like all the options open to me on where I can bike and I would never bike this road I don't bike any of the roads near here they are far too dangerous."

The Sheriff's Office Collision Investigations Unit is investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.

Speed or alcohol are not considered to be factors and it is not anticipated that the driver will be charged, the Sheriff's Office said.
