Crystal Mountain's Mount Rainier Gondola and Green Valley chairlift will run for the first time this season. The resort opens Wednesday starting at 9 a.m. through Sunday.

Thanks to a lower snow level and recent snowfall, Crystal Mountain Resort can open early at higher elevations. It rained at the base area, which will not be open.

The gondola and chair lift will start running at 9 a.m. and the last download will be at 3 p.m.  Daily lift tickets are only $25.

The chair lift provides access to intermediate and advanced terrain, but the resort said anyone can ride the gondola.

Mount Baker received 10 inches of snow Monday and announced it will open all eight chairlifts and its three lodges Thursday.

The snow base at Mount Baker varies in the ski area from 37 to 43 inches.

The ski area said only main runs would be open and discounted midweek prices will be offered Thursday and Friday.

Both Crystal and Mount Baker warn to ski and snowboard with caution. During the early season, conditions include sudden terrain changes and patches of thin coverage.

Crystal Mountain plans to open for the season on Thanksgiving Day, conditions permitting.
