SEATTLE – Seattle police say they have busted an NFL jersey counterfeiting operation. The suspect allegedly had $90,000 in fake jerseys in his home.

The investigation began last October after police received a complaint that someone was selling fake jerseys on Craigslist. It was believed the same person was selling the jerseys around stadiums.

An undercover officer bought one of the jerseys. An NFL official confirmed the jersey was a fake.

On Dec. 2, the suspect selling the jersey was arrested. Detectives say that person gave up the name of the actual source of the jerseys. After a two month investigation, detectives arrested the alleged source in North Seattle Tuesday.

A search warrant was issued on the suspect's home. Police say over 900 counterfeit jerseys were seized, with an approximate value of $90,000.

Several of these jerseys were New Orleans Saints counterfeits. Police say the suspect was presumably trying to cash in on the team's appearance this Sunday in Super Bowl XLIV.

The case is being forwarded to the King County Prosecutor's Office to determine charges.

ooh, a big win for the spd! how about you solve a crime someone cares about. what harm is he really doing selling his wares to poorer people who can't afford the outrageously expensive nfl gear? they love their teams just as much and should be able to proudly wear some team colors without it costing them and arm and a leg. as far as his marketing goes, that could be a little shady. i don't have all the info as to what he was claiming. you'd have to be an idiot to think you were buying discounted official gear from a guy outside the stadium.

This was most assuredly set up by the Obama administration to subvert the NFL just because it is a capitalistic corporation.
