SEATTLE - The city of Seattle owns two aging marinas that are in need of about $8 million worth of repairs, according to Dewey Potter with the Parks Department.

One proposed idea to generate money to make improvements at the Leschi and Lakewood moorages is already creating controversy. Some tenants asked the city for a copy of the proposal, which still needs to be evaluated.

Jeannie O'Brian said the plan to add a restaurant and possibly a farmer's market at the Lakewood moorage to generate more money is one concern. She is also worried that small boats will lose slips to larger boats that would have to pay more to rent the space.

A community meeting was planned the Lakewood Seward Park Community Club on Monday.
