SKYWAY, Wash. -- King County Sheriff's office is investigating a shooting Saturday night near the U.S. Bank in the 7600 block of 126th St.

Investigators say they are looking into the possibility that this was a drug deal that ended in gunfire.

The shooting happened after two men got into a fight. One man was shot.

Another man pulled up to use the ATM and saw what happened. He pulled out a gun and handcuffs and made a citizen's arrest.

"This guy did a great job - but we don't recommend it,” said Sgt. John Urquhart with the King County Sheriff’s Office. “You certainly do so at your own risk.  You got two guys - three guys now - suspect and victim and suspects depending on how you look at them - they both have guns.  This citizen's got a gun - we're glad we only got one guy shot."

The shooting victim is recovering at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His injuries are not life threatening.

Ten bucks says that the innocent "citizen" is actually an off-duty Bond Enforcement Agent...a.k.a. BOUNTY HUNTER. Either way, good on ya mate!

It will be interesting to see what, if anything, the bank's cameras show. I also want to know the details of how he got the perp unarmed and into handcuffs. BTW, cuffing the perp is MUCH smarter and safer than holding him at gunpoint until the police arrive. If he's not charged with kidnapping or illegally detaining the perp, perhaps I'll start carrying my cuffs again (I stopped because I was afraid of being prosecuted because I'm a civilian, not law enforcement). Done.

Some people may call him a hero. If he had been killed, or if another bystander had been hit by a stray bullet, many would surely call him an idiot. Either way, none of us are qualified to second-guess the decision he made in that particular moment, with his knowledge of the totality of the circumstances at the exact second in which he made his decision to draw his weapon and intervene. If you choose to get involved you can use a legally-purchased and -carried gun, which will defuse the situation or cause it to blow up to the point where you must use deadly force, or you can use your cellphone camera to take the perp's picture, which the cops can retrieve when the ME takes possession of your corpse. But, if you're the kind of person who will choose to draw your weapon in a situation like this because you're hoping to be forced to use it, you shouldn't carry one. ...to be continued...

I agree that there is great risk when jumping in when a violent situation is at hand. But be aware that just carrying a gun doesn't put you at risk; it's a tool to be used when all other options fail or are not viable (for instance, if a perp has a knife to your wife's throat and is starting to cut, running away or trying to talk him out of it are no longer viable options - you must pull the trigger). If someone poses an immediate threat of death or serious bodily injury to you or someone else you have the right - but not the requirement - to intervene. This guy chose to intervene when he probably could have walked away. He looked at the situation and made his choice. He risked his own life to stop a perp. He easily could have been killed or been forced to kill the perp. Luckily this situation ended with the perp in custody and no more bloodshed. ...to be continued...

To this citizen Thank You for taking that brave step and helping to protect our streets a little better. Yes it is a dangerous thing to do and not a lot of people have the guts to do something like this. So again thank you. Wikblom I agree with your theory. If citizens started arming themselves and went through training and everything and started helping the cops doing theirs jobs I think the crime rate would drop a decent amount because people would definately start thinking about what they are doing a little more. However it is a very dangerous thing to do and I am not sure if I could do something like this unless you put my kids in danger but I am glad we have citizens like this out there.

Mr. Urquhart seems unhappy that the citizen had a gun. Does he think only the police and the gangs should have guns? If the citizen had to shoot the perp in self defense, that would've been fine by me. I think it's awesome what he did!

Yep, absolutely not recommended. If this story holds true doing something like this is on the road of being extreme especially when he is not the one that is in the middle of the incident. But it's nice to hear every now and then that there is someone willing to get involved. If someone at lease use their cel phones to call the cops instead of trying to get that big cashin pulitzer prize vdo that would be more than enough.

We need more armed citizens taking down criminals. If we did so, the criminals would be much more reluctant to attack and rob other people. There has never been a mass shooting at a NRA Convention because the criminal knows he would be taken out after the first time he shot because everyone else has a gun.

People leaving negative comments please just stop it. There's enough negativity around, just say no haha. Seriously, I'd like to think that over all we are grateful no one else was hurt. There was a positive out come over all. The citizen saw something and said something and even went the extra mile. As for me, I couldn't do what he did, and am glad there are people around that can.

"citizen was legally carrying a concealed weapon as well as handcuffs and was in those handcuffs until police arrived.".............. who was in the handcuffs? The citizen or the suspect? Plenty of people out of work and nobody at KING5 proof reads anything before posting. Is KING5 hiring or are you using student interns that are way too busy sexting from themselves to themselves ? Other noosesources are depending on KING5 to send out something better writTen to the AP .... DATELINE : Seattle, WA ... KING5 is outsourcing reporting jobs to the Internet, you will need to know basic HTML code and understand this is a PART TIME JOB, with NO PAY and classified as an INTERN position while working at home, in your pjs, sipping coffee and eating your cereal while posting. Interviews will be scheduled when we get around to it. email if you have question: tips@king5.com

Can you folks at King 5 edit these articles before you post or at the least have a computer lend your editors a hand at the task?? The citizen w/ the CWP did not handcuff himself until police arrived, as your last sentence seems to imply. It is far from an isolated case, too. The majority of your articles would not pass muster with a 5th grade English teacher, in regards to sentence structure and spelling.

This is exactly why more people should take proper training, arm themselves and carry legally. It's odd that he also had handcuffs, but more power to him. Thank you whoever you are!
