HOBART, Wash. - Two kids got stuck in a culvert Thursday afternoon in the Maple Valley area near Highway 18.

King County Fire says they first received a call from a mother screaming and yelling, saying her daughter was stuck up to her neck in some kind of water pipe.

Chief Matt Cowan of Maple Valley Fire says her 14-year-old brother was the first one to go into the culvert and got stuck. Then the 10-year-old girl also got stuck.

Their 17-year-old sister came to the rescue by keeping the little girl's head above water.

Both the girl and boy were taken to Valley Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries and hypothermia.

It happened in the 19200 block of 268th Avenue SE in Hobart.

I did and all is good.. he's my next door neighbor. I apologize for my careless comment, and wish nothing but the best for your family.

To 92cg6...Thank you and God Bless. And to your friend who responded to the 911 call, thank him/her from the bottom of my heart for helping to save my little sister's life.

I'm done guys, and yes I'll admit my timing was bad. The person I'm referring to was just one of the many who responded to your 911 call and assisted with saving your sister. Helping her was obviously your moms number one priority, and I never once said you or your family was'nt appreciative or grateful for the help in any way.. nobody ever said that. At some point, something was said in regards to the fence and simply misunderstood or taken the wrong way..

To 92cg6: "you have your side of the story and I have mine." This is not a peeing contest. Why you feel the need to talk trash about a mother who just had her child inches away from death for an hour and a half is beyond me. Maybe you weren't hugged enough as a child, I'm sorry but Mommy and Daddy still love you. "Apparently" someone has a few issues, see I can play that game too. As for the word "apparently" it means: "Readily understood; clear or obvious"...you continue to use this word. There is nothing "apparent, clear or obvious" about anything you have said. This is not a game and your comments about my mother are just bizzare. I just hope that when/if your kid ever almost died that you don't have to deal with immature, ad hominem attacks about your family from a person who still has yet to graduate from kindergarten. "I won't mention names" but "apparently 92cg6 likes to beat little children. Seriously, who feels the need to attack someone at a time like this?

TO 92cg6: Sounds like someone is a little "Pretty White Fence" Envy....you must be a neighbor with a crappy brown fence. For you to talk trash about this mom during such a tragedy, all I have to say is "Shame on you" Even if this did come from a reliable source as you say, why you feel the need to share this is beyond me. Obviously you and this "reliable source" have something against this mom, because I know for a fact she could care less about a fence. She is a mom that has been through enough and could do without your negative comments. If you have nothing good to say to support this family then dont say nothing at all. You and your reliable source ....please. ( and yes, I am rolling my eyes)

@Jaaronpeterson: This info came directly from someone who was there and has absolutely nothing to gain and/or any reason to lie. As stated earlier I'm not going to mention names, but apparently more than one person noticed her being upset over the fence. If that's not the case, then there was obviously a misunderstanding between them and your mother.. you have your side of the story and I have mine. Either way, I'm glad to hear everyone is ok.

Excuse me, 92cg6, I am the kid's older brother and my mother was extremely grateful for everyone who helped save my sister and could care less about that "pretty white fence." Saving her daughter's life was all she cared about. My sister is doing great and is back at home with just a couple cuts and bruises for those interested, thank you for all the prayers and support and for those who had a hand in saving her life...Seriously, who are you anyway, 92cg6? Before you start slandering people and spreading trash, think a little bit. "Unbelievable" back at ya.

I'm really glad to hear the kids are safe, but you gotta it hand to the quick response by all the highly trained emergency personel that saved them. Apparently, mom was extremely upset over a section of her 'pretty white fence' being broken in order to save her kids. I won't mention names, but this is from a reliable source who was actually there. Hey guys thanks for saving my kids, but what about my fence? Unbelievable..

No matter how good a parent you are, your kids will find ways to explore and get into mischief. God knows I did!

Glad those kids are ok. I am just waiting for the trolls to jump in and blame this on bad parenting.

Scary. I remember a girl traveling through a drain system thru downtown after a thunderstorm, and the water was raging. Her friends chased her all the way across town and were able to pull her out once the drain opened up into a creek. I wonder if she enjoys water parks....
