SEATTLE -- A federal judge sentenced a wealthy Lake Tapps pilot to 25 years in prison for using money, alcohol and manipulation to molest more than a dozen boys.
Weldon Marc Gilbert, who worked as a pilot for UPS, is also facing lifetime supervised release.
At today's sentencing U.S. District Judge Benjamin H. Settle said "the extent of human suffering in this case cannot be overstated... There are so many victims... and the suffering and pain does not end with them; whole families and communities were damaged."
One victim told Judge Settle that he is "scarred for life."
In a sentencing memo, prosecutors wrote that Gilbert remains "incapable of real remorse" for the damage he did to at least 17 boys as young as 10, and that he repeatedly described his actions as "harmless fun." He even wrote a letter to the parents of two of his victims, saying he had fallen in love with their sons.
