CENTRALIA, Wash. - Centralia police arrested a 34-year-old father who told detectives he gave his one-year-old son an adult prescription drug to calm his son down.
A sergeant said the man gave the boy Ativan, an anti-anxiety medication.
The boy and his four-year-old sister have been in protective custody of the state since their mother was arrested for heroin possession last week.
Police said they learned the boy had ingested the drug after he got sick. Doctors found traces of the medicine in his system. He was not seriously injured.
The father has been booked on assault and drug charges.
