BURIEN, Wash. - Sean Spingelt says it plainly: "The dog was a target, I'm sure."
That's how he feels about the break-in at his Burien pet store called "A Place For Pets."
Around 4 a.m., someone squeezed through a back window and went directly for a 10-week-old female Scottish Terrier.
"They climbed in through a window, and just took the dog. Nothing else," says Spingelt.
Authorities say it's the latest burglary and theft in Burien's downtown core. There have been roughly a dozen burglaries near the store on SW 152nd Street in a month's time.
Detectives do not believe they are connected to the "dog-napping" case.
But Spingelt is not taking any chances. He was welding his windows shut late Thursday so no one could break through again.
"It saddens us greatly," he says.
The puppy is valued at $745.
