A Bremerton Police officer opened fire during a traffic stop Thursday morning.
It happened around 2:30 a.m. in the Erlands Point Area, said Deputy Scott Wilson of the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.
The officer was conducting a traffic stop when, for some reason, the situation escalated and the officer fired on the suspect.
Nobody was hurt and the suspect is in custody.
It’s not immediately known what happened that made the officer feel compelled to fire.
The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting. It’s typical for officers to be placed on paid administrative leave during such investigations.
