Health officials are advising Carrolls Water Association customers in Cowlitz County to boil their water before drinking it after E.coli was found from a well water sample.
The state is also asking residents to conserve water because the wells are producing less water than usual.
The water system is in Cowlitz County and about five miles southeast of Kelso. It serves about 176 homes, an elementary school and a store. The advisory will remain in effect until the problem is fixed.
Residents should boil all tap water before drinking, brushing teeth, preparing food, washing dishes and making ice. Officials also recommend heating the water for a brisk boil for one minute, then allow the water to cool.
Carrolls Water Association customers who have questions about their water should call Columbia Technical LLC at 360-281-2650.
