SEATTLE – Police are investigating a body found outside a University of Washington residence hall Tuesday morning.
University Police Commander Steve Rittereiser said a passerby found the body of the male UW student around 10 a.m. in a wooded area outside McMahon Hall at Pend Orielle Road NE and East Stevens Way NE.
"The first time that we had any information was at 10 o clock this morning and we've not identified anyone who witnessed what happened at this point,” said Cmdr. Steve Rittereiser, UW Police.
Police are in the process of contacting the student's family. The medical examiner plans an autopsy Wednesday to determine cause of death.
Immediately after the body was discovered, the balconies were locked - one day ahead of schedule.
“They tell you it's to keep the noise levels down for people studying,” said student Andreas Hewitt.
