BONNEY LAKE, Wash. -- Investigators continue to look for clues at a home in Bonney Lake where human remains were found Sunday night.
The boyfriend of the woman living at that house had reported her missing; police have arrested him for investigation of homicide.
Bonney Lake police said the boyfriend had reported the 42-year-old woman, Mary Mushapaidzi, missing Sunday. He said she left home for a jog about 5:30 a.m. and did not return. She did not show up for work at a Payless Shoe Store.
Police interviewed the woman's boyfriend and decided one area that needed to be searched was the family home, located in the 4700 block of North Island Drive. During their search, they found human remains in such bad condition police say it's too difficult to determine the gender.
The woman's boyfriend was booked into the Pierce County Jail Sunday evening.
Police say Mushapaidzi has only lived in the Bonney Lake neighborhood with her family for a couple of months. The couple have a 2-year-old child. She also has an 8-year-old.
"They were both out in the driveway crying this morning, wondering where their mom was at," said Michael Hartman, neighbor. "I just thought, oh boy. It's usually a quiet community. Everybody jogs and bikes in the morning, so I thought it was really odd for her to leave at 5:30 and not come back."
Neighbors were in disbelief.
"She was just a real nice person," said Molly Williams, neighbor. "She would make sure she would tell you good morning every morning. She would say hi to you every time she saw you."
The children have been placed in Child Protective Services. Meanwhile, police continue their investigation at the scene. Medical examiners have yet to identify the body.
Police said while investigators believe the human remains are possibly the missing woman, they are still waiting on confirmation.
