Police arrest Blaine man for three DUIs in one night

BLAINE, Wash. - Police say he drove three vehicles while drunk and crashed two of them - all in the same night.

Police first responded to a crash site where they found an abandoned truck and trailer in the 3300 block of Sweet Road. The vehicle had hit a utility pole.

As officers began their investigation they came across a second crash site just up the road. A red BMW was found with its bumper ripped off and the air bags deployed.

The two vehicles were registered to the same family.

Police say the driver of both of those vehicles then showed up in his own personal tow truck, with the intention of towing the two vehicles.

Police say the 54-year-old man had a cut on his forehead and reeked of alcohol and failed all of the field sobriety tests.

He was booked into the Whatcom County Jail on three counts of DUI.

@siusir: I think it's number one. Because he said "only stupid people ENJOY drinking alcohol." So I guess he doesn't ENJOY drinking alcohol. Yeah, me neither. But even if I don't ENJOY drinking, sometimes I have to follow my friends and my girlfriend to the bar when they want to drink. When that happens, I just order one glass of beer. Sometimes, I just order Diet Coke.

In response to hrdheded1 comment; Not all folks in Blaine, WA do this sort of thing. As we are all sure that many people in this Great country that we live in, have made these same very bad choices to drink and drive or use drugs and drive. Do not catorgorize or think that the people of those towns are all the same. It is a shame and very sad that this person made the choice to do this. He was caught, let the justice system find the appropriate punishment. Hopefully he will get the help he needs as there is a problem. Thank the Lord no one was hurt, as so so many usually are.

Less than 24 hours and this guy is out of jail...3 DWIs in ONE NIGHT! Not to mention..that I am still shaking off the fact that my son could have been killed by him last night! My son was up the road at a friends house and was running 5 minutes late...from walking home on that exact SAME ROAD! If my son would have been home on time..we would have been hit!.. I really hope this guy gets the help he needs..and I hope the court system did not let us down by releasing him too early to try it all over again! Next time a parent might not be so lucky!

I take back one of my previous comments about the relationship between the economy and the alcoholics. Yep, alcoholics might be broke@$$es, but they're not cheap. So they might be beneficial to our economy. But after they fugged up their lives and start collecting food stamps, they will hurt our economy. That's why.

Unfortunately, there are many who CAN'T, and a lot of them have to go ALL THE WAY! Not only that, the media has been telling stories like drinkers are more likely to make more money. That's a BS! If you own a business that deals with many homeless people in downtown, you'll know many of them have ruined their lives with alcoholism. So if you continuously enjoy drinking alcohol, you'll start ruining your life with a DUI. That's if you're lucky enough to dodge a DUI-related crash. I heard you go through a hell once you get a DUI these days. And that alone will affect your job, finance, and relationship. Now, try to guess what happens when the person doesn't learn any lesson from the first DUI.

I doubt that he will be charged with all three DUI's unless he was seen by someone willing to testify against him. Hopefully, they will be able to at least bring up the accidents in his trial without causing a mistrial. This guy has some serious issues with drinking and driving, he apparently isn't a very good drunk driver.

Sounds like his excuse was "I am too drunk to walk, so I have to drive". Looks like next time he will get a designated driver, That is once he gets out of the Graybar Hilton. But then again, some people never learn. Just glad he did not hit anybody. Lock him up for a long, long time.
