BELLINGHAM, Wash. - An argument escalated into a shooting leaving one man dead Friday night.

Police say the shooting happened in the area of East Ivy and Garden St.

Neighbors reported hearing an argument around 11:15 p.m. between people in two cars, followed by a single gun shot. One car fled and neighbors found a man lying in the grass next to his car with a chest wound.

The victim's car was located on East Ivy street, the engine was running, the parking brake set and the driver's door was open.

Paramedics arrived but police announced shortly after that the man had died.

A suspect vehicle was seen leaving the area after the shooting. The vehicle is believed to be a dark passenger car and was last seen north bound on Garden street.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sergeant Mike Johnston at (360)778-8687.
