The ashes of the man who played Montgomery Scott, aka “Scotty” on Star Trek are now venturing into the final frontier aboard the first private spacecraft to visit the International Space Station, Mashable reports.

The unmanned SpaceX Dragon spacecraft launched Tuesday with supplies for the ISS crew.

SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk reportedly said Doohan’s ashes were among those of several people on board.

Doohan's ashes also took a ride on a rocket in 2007, but that was a brief sub-orbital trip. This is the first time his ashes will go into Earth's orbit.

Doohan lived in Redmond, Wash., until his death in 2005 at the age of 85 after battling Parkinson’s Disease.
