BREMERTON, Wash. -- Detectives in Kitsap County arrested a woman in connection with a deadly house fire in Bremerton last month.
Firefighters found the body of 37-year-old Darcy Veeder inside the home on Wellington Lane. Veeder was one of eight people – including five adults and three children – who were asleep in the home when the fire broke out.
Everyone else made it out, some escaping the flames on their hands and knees.
Fire investigators now say the fire was intentionally set in a downstairs family room.
A coroner determined Veeder’s death was caused by asphyxia as a result of the toxic fumes and materials from the house fire.
