DES MOINES, Wash. – Police have made an arrest in the shooting death of a young woman in the Redondo Beach area last month.
Jayme Thomas, 19, was one of two people shot on just after 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 5 in the 800 block of Redondo Way South. According to witnesses, a verbal confrontation occurred between two separate groups before the shooting occurred.
Thomas was sitting in the back seat of a vehicle when she was killed. The other victim, 24-year-old Scott Kennedy, survived the shooting.
Des Moines Police said it arrested a 29-year-old man Wednesday night without incident at his home. He has been booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault and homicide. Detectives said tips and witnesses led them to the suspect.
Jayme graduated from Mount Rainier High School last June and was taking classes at Highline Community College with hopes of becoming a nurse.
