A man from Las Vegas was struck and killed by an Amtrak train on Saturday afternoon, Auburn Police say.

The accident happened in the 900 block of 'C' Street Southwest in Auburn.

Police say the 42-year-old victim and a female friend were taking pictures on the BNSF tracks when the Amtrak train approached from the south. The victim was unable to get off the tracks before the train, travelling at 79 mph, struck him.

The train had about 130 people onboard. They were bused to Seattle.
