EDMONDS, Wash. - Police arrested an alleged rapist Sunday and learned he had an outstanding warrant from immigration officials.
An Edmonds police officer responded to the location near a grocery store in the 23600 block of Hwy 99 at about 7 p.m. after someone heard a woman crying for help.
The officer spotted a man on top of a woman in the bushes near the store. The 46-year-old Seattle man was immediately arrested and the 28-year-old Edmonds woman was taken to the hospital.
Police say the man had been following the woman as she was walking then forced her into the bushes. Officers say the two did not know each other.
After booking the man for rape, police learned the suspect may have been giving them a false identity. Fingerprints confirmed the suspect's identity and revealed an outstanding warrant for his arrest from U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.
