TUKWILA, Wash. - Gunfire may have startled the residents of a Tukwila apartment complex, but it's not the first time they heard noise from Chris Monfort's direction.
The woman who shared a wall with Chris Monfort says he was a noisy night owl "(He'd) stay home, turn on the music real loud, like Thunder. All night, until 3, or 4 o'clock."
It's just one story now coming out from the complex near Tukwila's Interurban Avenue.
"He played the guitar," says Marlene Ruscoe, "it was always really loud."
Ruscoe, who has an infant daughter, was home yesterday when detectives fired at Monfort. "My boyfriend said grab Libby, grab Libby! We hit the floor."
But no one says they had any indication he had a weapons stockpile, as police allege, or was planning a violent attack. Few even say they noticed the Datsun which was parked out in front.
"That's crazy man, never know who you're living next to," said one man.
"Is this place safe to live, how do I gauge that?" said another resident.
Seattle Police are now trying to determine if Monfort may have been practicing in advance of the Oct. 22 attack on a police maintenance yard. Detectives have been alerted to the possibility of a string of recent explosion calls near the complex. The Tukwila Fire Department acknowledges it's putting together a timeline of calls concerning explosions, and their proximity to the apartment.
