Accident shuts down northbound SR 167

A multi-vehicle accident shut down northbound State Route 167 in Renton, Wash. on Friday, April 16, 2010.

RENTON, Wash. – Northbound State Route 167 was shut down for 45 minutes during the Friday afternoon rush hour after a five car accident.

It happened at 4 p.m. near the 180th Street Exit. The cause of the crash was not immediately known.

Video from a Washington State Department of Transportation camera shows the jersey barrier separating the northbound and southbound lanes moved as a result of the crash.

The northbound backup was several miles. Southbound traffic was also affected as drivers slow down to see what happened.

It's not immediately known if anyone was hurt.

wow!!! people need to leave space inbetween cars that they are following!!! and if somebody crowds in!!! back off and always leave a space for merging traffic and let them adjust their speed too get onto the highway not you!!!!
