SEATTLE (AP) — Shots have been fired at a Seattle house where a man sought in the coffee-shop slayings of four police officers may be holed up.

The widely spaced, deliberate gunfire appeared to be directed toward the house by surrounding police. The shots followed negotiators' use of loudspeakers and explosions to prod Maurice Clemmons. Authorities in the region have been seeking Clemmons in the Sunday morning shootings of four Lakewood officers, about 30 miles from the Seattle house.

There was no audible response from the house. Police spokesman Jeff Kappel had earlier said police weren't sure anyone was in the house, and refused to comment on the negotiator's tactics.

Also I would suggest to the media to please cooperate with the investigation by staying back when asked. Their job is difficult enough without helicopters in the direct vicinity. God be with Officer Troyer and the officers charged with this investigation. Jim

My heart goes out to the familys of these four officers. I'm from California and have been watching this story unfold all day. Hopefully the low life person who did this unspeakable crime will be caught shortly. To all the other officers know that we are also praying for you and your safety. God bless you and may you catch this SOB before he does anything else.

When is enough enough. These men and women are on the lines for each and every one of us everyday. I hate to fear the day when they are afraid to go to work. I am proud to be an American and am proud of our armed police forces that protect us each and every day. This is yet another act of nonsense. Please, let us catch this killer or killers and let justice be served. God bless the families that are suffering from this tragic event.

Deepest sympathies from California. I am a former police officer here in California and would like to tell the Lakewood Police Dept the entire country mourns with you. To King 5, thank you for your continued updates on your web page. May God be with the families, and let it be known you have the support, and sympathies of over 900,000 law enforcement families.
