CASTLE ROCK, Wash. (AP) — A man who shot a deer that may have been fed by residents of a Kelso assisted-living home was cited for discharging a firearm in the city.
The police report said 53-year-old Dannie Lee Applebury of Castle Rock told the officer he was unaware he was within the city limits Tuesday when he shot the deer. The Longview Daily News reports a state wildlife agent told police there was no hunting violation.
The deer was killed near Crawford House, an assisted-living home where residents routinely feed deer and consider them pets.
