LAKEWOOD, Wash. A Lakes High School teacher pleaded not guilty to claims he sexually abused a 17-year-old student.
Todd Dykman, 33, faces charges of sexual misconduct with a minor.
Court documents allege Dykman began a romantic relationship with the student in 2008. A Lakewood police officer first heard of the situation in November, 2008 through rumors circulating around the school that a teacher and swim coach was having "an inappropriate, physical relationship" with a student. An investigation was begun.
Last Monday, a detective tracked down the student involved and, on Wednesday, she admited the details of the relationship. Dykman was then arrested.
Dykman was released from custody on Thursday and was ordered to have no contact with any minors other than his own children.
Dykman has been on paid administrative leave since March.
He was a physical education teach and a swim coach.
