Video: Seattle company fights taggers with graffiti

SEATTLE - A Pike Place Market produce company fought back after one of its delivery trucks kept getting hit by taggers.

"The person that drove this truck before I started driving it, he took it home to Queen Anne every night and where he parked it, it would get tagged up. It would get hit at least once a week," said driver Justin Raya.

The owners of Frank's Produce eventually got fed up and decided, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

They hired a couple professional graffiti artists, who used the truck as their canvas. With a spray paint can, they intricately designed a bright-colored mural that wraps around the entire truck.

It has been turning heads everywhere it goes.

"People on the sidewalk, you see them turn around looking and staring at it, making comments, laughing, joking. It gets a lot of attention," said Raya.

For the last two months, the truck hasn't been touched by taggers.

Raya believes there's a reason for that.

"It's almost like desecrating something that they think is a ritual," he said.

The response to the graffiti art has been so positive, Frank's Produce is considering painting their other delivery trucks.
